Greenwich Hospital Celebrates Residency Program Graduates
The hospital recently held its 47th annual Internal Medicine Residency Program graduation.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Hospital recently celebrated the 47th annual Internal Medicine Residency Program graduating class of seven residents and seven interns.
Dr. Charles Seelig, program director, commended the graduates for their dedication, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We deeply appreciate your extraordinary work," he said.
This year’s graduating residents were Sally Ju Young Bae, MD, Michael Foti, MD, Deepa Jansen, MD, Ginamarie Papia, DO, Waqas Salam, DO, Leilei Teng, MD, MS, and Chanjuan Zhong, MD, PhD.

The graduating interns were Saheeb Ahmed, MD, Sotonye Bobojama, MD, Liam du Preez, MD, Daniel Kim, MD, Marjorie Morales, MD, Victoria A. Perez, MD, and Juliana Runnels, MD. Jennifer Hewlett, MD, the departing chief resident, was also recognized.
Several awards were distributed during the ceremony on June 3:
- Marcelo Orias, MD, PhD, received the Golden Apple Award (Teacher of the Year).
- Umar Hasan, DO was presented the Resident Teacher of the Year Award.
- Michael Foti, DO, received the Resident Physician Patient Experience Award.
- Deepa Jansen, MD, was presented the Resident Quality and Safety Award.
- Sally Ju Young Bae, MD received the Henry E. Markley, M.D. Humanitarian Award in Medicine.
- Chanjuan Zhong, MD, PhD, received the Nelson Bonheim, M.D. Research Award in Medicine.
