Greenwich Hospital Freedom Riders Spin To Support Cancer Care

The Greenwich Hospital Freedom Riders will take part in "Ride in the Garden" at the hospital this week.

The Greenwich Hospital Freedom Riders have found a creative way to take part in the 10th annual Closer to Free Ride to support Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Greenwich, even though the actual event went virtual this year due to the pandemic.

Hospital employees will take part in Ride in the Garden on September 11 from 2 - 5 pm in the hospital’s community garden. Equinox of Greenwich has donated 10 spin bikes for the day and a spin instructor has donated her time to cycle each participant through a 20-minute spin class. Greenwich Hospital and Smilow Cancer Hospital leadership will offer opening remarks.

The event is only open to Greenwich Hospital employees. The event is not open to the public in keeping with safety protocols.

Greenwich Hospital will exceed all state and Yale New Haven Health safety requirements, spacing spin bikes 12 feet apart, providing wipes for the bikes between riders, and Purell and masking until each rider begins.

All of the funds raised from Ride in the Garden will directly support survivorship care at Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Greenwich.
