Greenwich HS Mezzo-Soprano Sarah King Earns Choral Society Award

The choral society has named King recipient of the Nathalie Rutherford Scholarship Award.


Greenwich High School senior Sarah King of Riverside has been named Greenwich Choral Society's recipient of the 2014 Natalie Rutherford Scholarship Award.

King was presented with the award and was the featured soloist at the Greenwich Choral Society’s Annual Meeting May 6.

A mezzo-soprano, King is a member of the Greenwich High School Chamber Singers, the Angel Choir, the St. Clement of Rome Choir (also as a soloist) and the All-State Chorus and has studied classical voice with Pamela Kuhn. She has participated in the Indiana University Audition Prep Program, The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Kennedy Center Opera Institute at American University Opera and Art Song programs and the Boston University Tanglewood Young Artists Vocal Program Festival Chorus.

King has a lifelong interest in music with a special passion for opera. She will be attending the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music beginning in the fall to pursue a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance and looks forward to a career in opera.

The Greenwich Choral Society sponsors the competition for the annual Nathalie Rutherford Scholarship Award of $1,000. Any senior attending school in Fairfield or Westchester County who intends to pursue further study in vocal or choral music is encouraged to apply.
