Greenwich Lifeguard Shortage Affects Coverage

Swimmers will have to pay attention to flagged areas to know when lifeguards are monitoring the water.

GREENWICH, CT—Greenwich will try out a beach flagging system to let swimmers know what parts of the beach are covered by lifeguards.

There is a shortage of lifeguards in Greenwich, according to the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The flagging system will be done on a trial basis at Greenwich Point. Green means a lifeguard is supervising swimming, yellow means there is no lifeguard and red means that swimming is closed due to unsafe conditions.
