Greenwich Man Accused Of Assaulting A Police Officer: PD

The alleged incident occurred Monday night on East Putnam Avenue.

GREENWICH, CT — An argument over money between a father and son Monday night on East Putnam Avenue in Riverside allegedly ended up with the son being arrested on a charge of assaulting a police officer, according to authorities.

Officers were called by the father to a parking lot in the 1200 block of East Putnam Avenue over what was reported as an argument over stolen money. The father "asked that his son be spoken to and money retrieved," Greenwich police said in a statement.

The son, identified as Constantino Alexander Faria, 20, of Reed Lane in Greenwich, initially would not cooperate when told by officers to turn around.

But soon the "suspect began throwing punches" at the head of the officer, striking the officer in the top of the head and the shoulder.

The officer wrestled Faria to the ground to subdue him. Faria was held in lieu of bail of $1,500 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on July 16.
