GREENWICH, CT — Police said on Thursday that a Greenwich man has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run incident from over three years ago.

On Wednesday, police pulled over Edwin Espinal, 31, for failing to stop at a stop sign on Monica Road, according to an arrest report. Espinal had his driving privileges suspended as well as a warrant stemming from an accident on Pemberwick Road in February 2018, the arrest report said.

Lt. Martin O'Reilly said that on Feb. 28, 2018, Espinal was driving on Pemberwick Road and hit a telephone pole. He left that scene, and tried to go home when he hit additional cars, O'Reilly noted.

"He was transported to the hospital. That's why he wasn't arrested on scene, and the warrants had to be done," O'Reilly said.

Espinal was charged with operating a vehicle under a suspended license, the arrest report said. In relation to the warrant, Espinal was charged with evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to drive in a proper lane, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief, according to the arrest report.
