GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich will mark the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks with two ceremonies next week.

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, a remembrance ceremony will be held at the 9/11 memorial in Cos Cob Park.

The ceremony will begin at 8:46 a.m., and feature remarks from First Selectman Fred Camillo and others. The names of the 33 Greenwich residents who died in the attacks will be read while a memorial bell is rung.

Later that day at 6:30 p.m., another ceremony will take place at the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company headquarters where there is a 9/11 memorial in the form of a piece of twisted steel from the World Trade Center.

"These ceremonies will pay tribute to the victims of these attacks and the brave first responders who rushed to the scene, many at the cost of their own lives," Camillo said Friday in his weekly newsletter. "Please come join us for these ceremonies as we continue to stand together as a community to memorialize all who were lost."
