Greenwich Marks Constitution Week With Proclamation

GREENWICH, CT — Patrick McCann, president of the Mary Bush Society of the Children of the American Revolution, recently joined First Selectman Fred Camillo as he signed a proclamation designating this week as Constitution Week.

McCann, a junior at Greenwich Country Day School, received the proclamation.

The nationwide observance marks the 239th anniversary of the drafting of the U.S. Constitution, which was approved Sept. 17, 1787.

The Children of the American Revolution is the nation’s oldest and largest patriotic youth organization. It promotes love of country, community service, the study of American history and government, appreciation of veterans and conservation.

This year, the organization is commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary through nationwide service initiatives, historical preservation projects and public events.

The local group is holding a membership drive open to those under age 22 who can trace their ancestry to a patriot or someone who aided the American Revolution. Genealogical research assistance will be available to those who are uncertain.
