Greenwich Motor Vehicle Stop Ends In Narcotics Arrest: PD

The incident occurred on Monday night, Dec. 17.

GREENWICH, CT — A 29-year-old Port Chester man, who had been pulled over by a Greenwich police officer for having overly tinted windows, was arrested on narcotics charges Monday after he tried to run away from the officer and had to be chased down, according to Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.

The incident began at about 7 p.m. when the officer spotted a 2010 5 Series BMW traveling on Ritch Avenue near exit 2 of I-95 with heavily tinted windows.

The officer pulled over the vehicle, and while speaking with the driver, later identified as Vincent Chambless, he smelled marijuana coming from inside the car.

Back up was called in, and as officers began searching the vehicle, Chambless ran off on Ritch Avenue, according to Slusarz. Officers were able to catch up to him and place him under arrest.

Inside the vehicle, officers found 13.1 grams of cocaine, 1.2 grams of marijuana, a stash of ziploc bags, two digital scales and $2,349 in cash.

Chambless was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, interfering with an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal operation of a vehicle with tinted windows, and other violations.

He was released after posting bond on bail of $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 2.
