Greenwich Parks & Rec Indoor Pickleball Signup Starts Nov. 13

The activity will be played at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.

From the Town of Greenwich: The Department of Parks and Recreation is excited to announce that pickleball will be returning this winter at The Eastern Greenwich Civic Center. Pickleball is a cross between tennis, ping pong, and badminton and is still the fastest growing racquet sport. Registration is now open for the instructional clinic and play dates during the winter season. Registration opens online November 13 for Greenwich residents. To register online go to: www.greenwichct.org/webtrac and select “Activity Registration.” Mail-in registration begins November 27.

Mail-in registration should not be postmarked earlier than November 27. In-person registration at the Parks and Recreation Office begins on Monday, December 11. Non-residents may sign-up starting December 11. Registration remains open until the program is filled. Space is limited and registration is first come, first serve.

Residents must provide proof of residency if not yet provided this year.

The adult pickleball program offers players a selection of up to 3 days per week at a multi-day discounted rate. Seniors will receive an additional discount with their senior card. Three regulation sized courts at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center gymnasium will be available for players on Saturdays from 6:00pm – 8:30pm, Mondays from 11:00am – 1:30pm, and Thursdays from 11:00am – 1:30pm. The season runs from January 6 until March 26.

In addition to the regular play dates, an instructional clinic for adults is being offered on Saturdays from 4:30pm – 6:00pm. There will be two, five-week sessions offered. Players may sign up for one or both sessions depending on how much instruction they may need or want. This is the only formal, instructional program offered for pickleball. Instruction will focus on all the fundamentals of the game, review of the rules, and implementation in games. Those that progress quickly will receive more intermediate instruction and will be grouped accordingly.
