Greenwich PD Launches Distracted Driving Enforcement Effort
Patrols will be stationed throughout Greenwich looking for drivers who are texting or otherwise engaged while behind the wheel.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department will increase patrols this month to look for distracted drivers as part of the national "U Drive. U Text. U Pay." campaign, a high-visibility effort to enforce laws that prohibit distracted driving.
The campaign runs to the end of April, and in addition to Greenwich police, law enforcement departments from throughout Connecticut are also participating in the initiative. Officers will patrol throughout Greenwich at various times to catch those who are texting - or otherwise engaged - while driving.
"Drivers are continuously ignoring their responsibilities behind the wheel, and distracted driving is a growing and deadly threat on our roadways," wrote Greenwich police officials in a statement. "Connecticut police are teaming up with the Connecticut Department of Transportation during the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) National Distracted Driving Awareness month to make sure all motorists keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel."
