Greenwich Pizza Shop Owner’s Lottery Ticket Delivers $50K

The owner of a Greenwich pizza shop says he rarely plays the Lottery, but things certainly paid off when he listened to his employees.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 24-year-old Fairfield resident, who is an owner and operator of a pizza shop in Greenwich, received a special delivery himself when he decided to try his luck on a Connecticut Lottery game and won $50,000.

Samuel Silva said he rarely plays the Lottery. “Once in a blue moon I’ll play,” he told Lottery officials.

It wasn’t until his employees mentioned playing the Lottery that Silva decided to try his luck on a “5X The Money 8th Edition” ticket.

Silva headed across the street to play not knowing his ticket would show a $50,000 top prize.

Using a penny to scratch the ticket, the pizza shop owner plans to save it for future use.

“It’s a lucky penny—heads up!” Silva said with a laugh to Lottery officials.

After revealing his top prize, Silva couldn’t believe his big win and told his mother first, who reacted in a similar fashion. “Wow, really!?”
