Greenwich Plans Community Forum On Flooding
With hurricane season almost here, the town is hoping to educate residents on how to prepare for and handle, flooding and storm events.

GREENWICH, CT — Since there have been numerous storms and flooding events in Greenwich over the past few years and because hurricane season is rapidly approaching, the town is planning on holding a community forum in September.
The forum is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. inside the Town Hall meeting room.
First Selectman Fred Camillo mentioned the idea in his weekly newsletter to the community on Friday, and said he recently spoke with Greenwich Emergency Management Director Joe Laucella.

"We want people to know how to be better prepared. We’re going to focus on topics like home mitigation, creating family emergency plans, and different types of flooding.," Camillo said in his newsletter. More details will be released closer to the forum.
Camillo reiterated that when residents have problems with flooding, the best way to reach someone in the Department of Public Works is through email at publicworks@greenwichct.org.

By sending information there, DPW can track its responses to any given location, keep records of its investigations, and have contacts for homeowners, Camillo said.
During the work day, people can also call DPW’s customer service line to talk to a person immediately or get a call back at 203-618-3001. In emergency cases, people should call 911, Camillo noted.
