Greenwich Police Department Celebrates 2019 National Police Week
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day.
GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department, like departments across the country, are celebrating National Police Week through May 18.
The week-long event grew out of a 1962 proclamation by President John F. Kennedy which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
Greenwich police kicked off the week-long celebration this past Saturday with Police Day at headquarters, where members of the community joined officers, their friends, and their families in a day of learning. See the photos above.
