GREENWICH, CT — Police officers helped the Transportation Association of Greenwich deliver food Tuesday after recent thefts left the organization's buses "inoperable," according to Greenwich police.

In a statement, Lt. John Slusarz said catalytic converters were reported stolen from nine of the organization's buses sometime overnight Monday, and the buses were "inoperable" Tuesday morning as a result.

According to Slusarz, TAG is a non-profit organization that serves seniors age 60 and older, as well as people of any age that are disabled, by providing specialized transportation to get them where they need to go. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"The loss of nine busses has crippled these operations," Slusarz said in a statement.

Slusarz said the department is assisting TAG and Neighbor to Neighbor by delivering food to those in need while investigating the thefts.
