The Greenwich Police Department is offering a citizen's youth police academy & a high school and college-age women's self-defense seminar.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department is offering two upcoming programs geared towards young people.

The department is accepting applications for the 2023 Youth Citizen’s Police Academy. The five-day program will begin on Monday, June 26, and finish on Friday, June 30, at the GPD.

Applicants must be Greenwich residents or children of town of Greenwich employees, entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in the fall of 2023.

The class size is limited to 40 students and will be filled on a first-come first served basis. There is a $150 fee for the program. Scholarships are available upon request.

Additionally, on May 27, the GPD is offering a high school and college-age women's self-defense seminar.

The seminar is great for female high school and incoming college students to learn situational awareness. The target age group is 16 to 21 years of age only.

The seminar is taught by certified Greenwich police use-of-force instructors and will be held at police headquarters.

This seminar is for students who reside or work in town. There is a $40registration fee (includes class completion Certificate and a T-shirt).
