Greenwich Police Officer Arrested While Off Duty: PD
The arrestee, a Greenwich native, joined the Greenwich Police Department in 2021.

GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich police officer was arrested while off duty after he was involved in a dispute with another off-duty officer, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
Steven Caldwell was arrested on March 28 by Connecticut State Police, which is also handling the investigation, Deputy Greenwich Police Chief Mark Zuccerella said in a news release Friday afternoon.
"The offenses were misdemeanors, and no one was physically injured. The incident is still an active investigation. The officer charged in this incident has been placed on administrative leave, and a comprehensive review is underway," Zuccerella said.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available Friday afternoon. State police told Patch they are reviewing documents and will provide more details when they're available.
"Please know that we are taking this matter with the utmost seriousness. The trust between our department and the community we serve is invaluable. The Greenwich Police Department reaffirms our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and continual improvement," Zuccerella added. "While this incident is disheartening, it remains an isolated occurrence, and it should not overshadow the dedication and honorable service exhibited by the majority of our officers."

The GPD has also launched an internal investigation.
Caldwell, a Greenwich native and Greenwich High School graduate, joined the department in 2021.
Prior to joining the GPD, Caldwell served as an officer in the Bridgeport Police Department, where he was awarded the Police Meritorious Service Medal in July 2021. He was also recognized by U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Mayor Joseph Ganim with a certificate of heroism for a lifesaving incident during a suicide intervention.
Caldwell has also served as a volunteer firefighter in Glenville.
