Greenwich Police Officer Promoted To Sergeant
The department recently held a small promotional ceremony.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Police Department last week promoted Shane Geary from master police officer to sergeant.
Geary has been with the GPD since October 2014. He serves on the department's dive team, emergency services unit, crisis negotiations unit, drone unit, honor guard and is a field training officer.
The department held a small promotional ceremony with GPD Chief James Heavey and Geary's family and friends in First Selectman Fred Camillo's office. Camillo is also the town's police commissioner.

"I know he will continue to do the town proud in his new position," Camillo said of Geary in his weekly newsletter to the community.
As sergeant, Geary will serve as the first line of supervision to ensure the department's mission and goals are implemented at the field level.

"Sergeants are the ones who explain new policies to officers and who put big-picture goals into the daily tasks that officers must understand and implement. Sergeants are the most critical position for any police department," the GPD said on Facebook.
The GPD also said goodbye last week to Deputy Chief Robert Berry, who left Greenwich to become chief of police at Western Connecticut State University.
Also on the first responder front, Camillo will swear-in new Greenwich Assistant Fire Chief Justin McCarthy at the Central Fire Station on April 12.
