Greenwich Principal Appointed As New K-8 Curriculum Leader
A Greenwich principal has been appointed as director of curriculum for K-8 in the Greenwich Public Schools.
GREENWICH, CT — Marc D'Amico has been appointed as director of curriculum for K-8 in the Greenwich Public Schools by Superintendent Toni Jones. He will also serve as head of K5 leadership, according to an announcement released Wednesday.

In his new role, D'Amico will lead the elementary principal team and be responsible for the K-8 curriculum, as well as instruction and assessment. Other duties will include building and managing a budget, creating effective parent-teacher-child communication and curriculum content and "fostering innovative practices which represent a 21st century mindset," among other responsibilities.

"We are very excited for Marc to join our central office team," Jones said in a statement. "He brings with him a deep understanding of and appreciation for student-centered instruction, educational administration, parent and community involvement, and effective team-building. He has experience as a classroom teacher and building administrator, giving him a unique perspective on curriculum delivery and oversight."
Jones said D'Amico is "highly valued" by his colleagues and has been a leader among his peers for a number of years.

"He will be a very valued member of our academic team," Jones said, "and we look forward to welcoming him to this position."
D'Amico spent 15 years as principal of Glenville School, where he initiated a school improvement plan and before and after-school programs. He also managed a team of staff and assistants in implementing strategies, among other duties.
"I am excited to be joining the administrative team for the district," D'Amico said in a statement. "I am humbled by this appointment and thankful for the opportunity to bring my 25 years of experience as a building leader and classroom teacher to this role. I look forward to the journey ahead, and I am incredibly grateful for the past 15 years that I have had the honor to serve the Glenville community."
D'Amico also expressed gratitude to his staff at Glenville for their hard work and support during his time with the school.
"To my incredible staff, thank you for always putting the needs of our students first and for your willingness to be risk-takers and innovators in our endless pursuit of excellence," D'Amico said. "You will be greatly missed, and I am forever appreciative of the trust you have had in me as a leader."
Prior to his time at Glenville, D'Amico served as the assistant principal for Julian Curtiss Magnet School of World Languages, where he was responsible for staff recruitment, development and retention, as well as student discipline and supervision of all special education services, among other responsibilities.
D'Amico began his career in education as a classroom teacher for 4th, 5th and 6th grades at Lafayette Elementary School in Shelton. He holds degrees from Pace University, Sacred Heart University and Southern Connecticut State University, and was also a nationally recognized PIMMS Fellow in mathematics and science through Wesleyan University.
