Greenwich Provides Update On Great Captain Island Ferry Service
Here's an update on when the Great Captain Island ferry could be back in service.
GREENWICH, CT — Ferry service to Great Captain Island will be delayed as the Islander II continues undergoing an engine replacement, according to an announcement from the Greenwich Parks & Recreation Department.
The work is part of a multi-year capital improvement project aimed at repowering the engines of all the town’s ferries to reduce maintenance costs, improve reliability and extend the lifespan of each vessel.
The Islander II is the first ferry to receive the upgrade. While most of the work has been completed and the boat has returned to the water, final adjustments are still needed.

"We appreciate the patience in this matter, and we are looking forward to having the ferry back in service so everyone can enjoy the experiences that Great Captain Island has to offer," the department stated in its update.
