"State Treasurer Denise Nappier was the first and only woman in Connecticut elected to this office, and she is an inspiration to me and countless others for her dedication and impeccable record. Denise has given all of us her tireless commitment, she has been an advocate for financial literacy, and a leader in promoting strong corporate governance. I am so thankful Treasurer Nappier is such a trusted, steadfast, and dedicated servant to Connecticut," said Bhargava.
"I am running for Treasurer because I am committed to protecting our pensioners and fulfilling our promise of retirement security to people who worked their entire lives in public service and education. I am running to broaden the financial literacy of our young people, and to provide economic empowerment for our working and middle-class families." Bhargava said, "As Treasurer I will be a trusted advisor on our state's financial condition, and to work with all leaders and legislators to get Connecticut back on a sound fiscal footing. And I promise to be Connecticut's strongest economic advocate, working to create jobs and grow our economy, so all our young people can stay here with the job opportunities and quality of life they deserve."
The Connecticut State Convention will be held on May 18 and 19. The Democratic primary will be on August 14.
