Greenwich Resident Takes Over Anchor Duties At 'CBS Evening News'

Jeff Glor has been with CBS News for a decade.

GREENWICH, CT — Jeff Glor, a Greenwich resident and 10-year veteran of CBS News, debuts tonight, Dec. 4, as the new anchor of the "CBS Evening News," according to the network.

Glor replaces former Darien resident Scott Pelley as anchor, and he has experience covering a myriad of topics across the CBS media spectrum.

"I can't wait to highlight the exceptional, ongoing work of my colleagues every single night," said Glor in a statement. "We are focused on delivering a newscast powered by reporting and writing that will get to the heart of the issues that impact our viewers wherever they are."

CBS News President David Rhodes made the original announcement of Glor's promotion in October, calling him a "thoughtful, probing journalist" who is versatile.

"Jeff is a thoughtful, probing journalist with the versatility to anchor in any circumstance -- from daily reporting to the most significant events of our time," said Rhodes in a statement. "In his more than 10 years at CBS News, Jeff has earned the trust of viewers and his colleagues. He represents the best journalistic values and traditions that will carry the Evening News into a digital future."

Glor's debut this evening is on CBS at 6:30 p.m.
