GREENWICH, CT — North Street School was evacuated Monday morning due to an odor of gas inside the building, according to the Greenwich Police Department.

The Greenwich Fire Department responded after a police officer assigned to security detail at the school reported the odor. Students and staff were evacuated as a precaution while the GFD attempted to locate the source, Capt. Mark Zuccerella of the GPD said.

Firefighters located the source and attributed the smell to an HVAC issue, Zuccerella said. The problem was fixed quickly, and students returned to their classes.
