GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Board of Selectmen is scheduled Thursday morning to consider initiating the process to sell several town-owned properties acquired through tax lien foreclosures, a move that could return the parcels to private ownership and the town’s tax rolls.

The board will meet Thursday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Cone Room at Town Hall, according to the agenda. The meeting is listed as in person.

One of the items listed under "new business" is a first read request to advertise and refer the sale of town-owned properties acquired through foreclosure to the Planning and Zoning Commission for municipal improvement status. The item is listed for discussion and possible action.

According to background materials prepared for the board, the town has obtained title over the past year to the following properties through judgments in tax lien foreclosure cases:

  • 49 Hillcrest Park Road
  • Old Farm Lane (two parcels)
  • Greenwich Cove Drive (two parcels)
  • Mortimer Drive
  • 31 Heusted Drive
  • 0 Eugene Street

Town records show the properties were acquired between July and October 2025. Under the town charter, any proposed sale of municipally owned land must first be referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review as part of the overall process.

Also on the agenda is a first read request to amend the traffic ordinance related to reserved parking, which would allow enforcement at electric vehicle charging stations at Town Hall, including the employee parking lot and the visitor garage.

Under Old Business, the board is expected to take up several second read items, including a proposed amendment establishing two-hour parking restrictions on part of Loughlin Avenue, ceremonial flag-raising requests, and a proposed ordinance change establishing term limits for officers serving on town building committees.

The agenda also includes the closure of a public hearing on a noise ordinance variance request from Burning Tree Country Club, along with routine reports from the first selectman and selectwomen and appointments and nominations to town boards and commissions.
