GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich Board of Selectmen is slated to discuss panhandling in town during its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, according to the meeting agenda.

First Selectman Fred Camillo said earlier this month that he received complaints from residents about panhandlers disrupting traffic at I-95 exit 5 in Riverside.

The Greenwich Police Department was made aware, and police told the town that panhandling is allowed as long as it's not done in the street.

Camillo said his office has contacted the Greenwich Human Services Department, which has sent personnel to meet with the individuals.

Potential solutions could include installing signs or enacting an ordinance that prohibits panhandling, Camillo said.
