Greenwich Students To Receive 2020 Community Service Awards
First Selectman Fred Camillo will share remarks during the awards ceremony, scheduled to take place virutally this week.
GREENWICH, CT — A number of Greenwich students will receive community service awards this week for their participation in service activities, school officials announced Tuesday. A virtual awards ceremony is scheduled to be held Wednesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. through Zoom.
During the ceremony, Superintendent of Schools Toni Jones, Board of Education Chair Peter Bernstein, and First Selectman Fred Camillo will share remarks, and school principals and house administrators will present the awards to the elementary, middle and high school student recipients. "The Community Service Awards are an honored tradition in our school district, recognizing students who have given so much of their time, energy and efforts to improve their school and broader communities," Jones said in a statement. "I am filled with so much pride when I see and hear about the impact that these impressive students have made."

Ernest Fleishman, who previously served as superintendent from 1976 to 1989, will present the Fleishman Award for Community Service to Greenwich High School student Emil Perdue. According to a the announcement, the award recognizes students who have made "outstanding contributions to their community."
Additionally, each student will receive state citations in recognition of their accomplishments.
