Greenwich Trail Rides and Lessons

A longtime Greenwich resident, and now real estate broker, Jessica Owen-Smith helps Greenwich area kids learn about horses.

Jessica Owen-Smith is a woman of many talents and diverse interests. A lifelong horse lover, Jessica has been riding since the age of three, and so now is a highly accomplished equestrian. Formerly a professional in the financial industry, Jessica now works as a real estate broker at Houlihan Lawrence in Greenwich.

Not only does Jessica work in Greenwich, she lives there. When at home at her beautiful Memory Lane Farm, which is just minutes off the Merritt Parkway, Jessica gives trail rides and lessons to children as young as four, as well as adults. During April break she runs a riding program for children, which is similar in format to a summer camp. During this program, students enjoy horseback riding, crafts, and nature exploration.

The horseback riding segment focuses on teaching students to safely and stylishly cover the terrain of her property, as well as the many local trails. Students ride one of two horses at Jessica's small farm, either her Thoroughbred, Celtic River, or her beautiful caramel colored hunter pony, Flame. During the nature exploration segment of her April program Jessica encourages students to interact with members of her beautiful flock of colorful chickens, as well as dogs, cats, and more! Some of the crafts include painting (jars, the chicken coop, leaves, bird houses, etc.), planting seeds and flowers, making horse treats, decorating the chicken coop, playing horse games, and pretending to be horses. Whew!

Jessica’s beautiful Greenwich farm is part of a family legacy, as it used to belonged to her family 100 years ago, though was acquired by another family in the interim. However, Jessica recently bought it back and it is now the starting point for the trail rides she often takes with her mother, Bonnie Caie, a real estate broker, who is also a native of Greenwich. Over the past year Bonnie has taken Jessica under her wing as they've worked together in real estate, which Bonnie has practiced for over 35 years.

We are so lucky to have Jessica's riding and real estate services available here in Greenwich! For more information on the farm, or on Jessica's pony, who may be for sale soon, go to her website, www.memorylanefarmct.com.
