GREENWICH UNITED WAY SUPPORTERS WELCOME DAVID RABIN AS NEW CEO

Rabin committed to historic mission and vision as the organization evolves.

Greenwich United Way invited the organization’s top benefactors to a cocktail reception at McArdle’s Florist & Garden Center last night. The event formally introduced David Rabin as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Greenwich United Way. Town and State officials were in attendance including Peter Tesei, John Toner, Livvy Floren and Fred Camillo. Rabin’s wife Lauren made an appearance at the event before attending the Board of Education meeting where she sits on the Negotiations Committee. The Rabin’s have two adult children, Eric who attended last night and studies at Tulane University and Scott, a University of South Carolina alumn now at Morgan Stanley in New York City.

Rabin began working with Greenwich United Way last month after the Board of Directors unanimously voted him in as the new CEO. His notable experience includes work in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, before joining Greenwich United Way Rabin was Vice President and founding branch manager at Webster Bank of Greenwich. Rabin proved his expertise in business development by turning the branch into the top performer in the country during its first year and maintained this level throughout his entire career there. For more than 20 years Rabin has volunteered in the community and has worked with Byram Archibald Neighborhood Center (BANC), Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, At Home in Greenwich, Greenwich September 11th Memorial, Greenwich Youth Football League and Representative Town Meeting (RTM).

In his speech tonight, Rabin announced news related to the online image of the organization and explained his plans to grow fundraising and awareness for Greenwich United Way programs and agencies created in response to the Needs Assessment. “Our new branding, logo and website will launch in a couple of weeks with our powerful new tagline - Local Insights. Lasting Results.” He continued by explaining that the Greenwich United Way mission and vision remains the same and that the organization will continue to mobilize the community in strategic efforts to identify and address critical human service needs in Greenwich. “Thanks to your support we will continue to find, fund and fix critical human service needs in the Town of Greenwich” he stated.

The newly appointed CEO then invited all to later visit the website (greenwichunitedway.org) to view a list of Greenwich United Way accomplishments since its inception in 1933.

Board Chair, Karen Keegan emceed the evening’s speeches and began with a warm welcome and generous thank you to longtime donors and supporters in attendance. Keegan stated, “Our work would not be possible without – all of you: our donors and all our most generous supporters that help us dive deep to identify local needs, raise awareness, and partner with others in the community to achieve lasting results." Keegan then introduced First Selectman, Peter Tesei to say a few words regarding the work Greenwich United Way has done in the community over the past 80 years and the positive future outlook.

In this season and time of renewal it’s somewhat fortuitous that we are here because in many ways tonight we are here celebrating the renewal and the next chapter of the Greenwich United Way. The Greenwich United Way has contributed greatly to meeting the needs in the Town of Greenwich, not only meeting them but going about a very thoughtful and deliberate process to identify those needs and coming up with workable solutions and finding a way to fund and implement them, for that we are a better community. And that would not be possible without the management of the organization; you [Board of Directors] have chosen very wisely in selecting David Rabin as the next director of the Greenwich United Way.

In closing Keegan mentioned three upcoming events; the sold out 2016 Sole Sisters Luncheon with Keynote, Arianna Huffington on April 19th, a unique Town Meeting for teens and parents at Arch Street Teen Center on April 28th with Scooter Braun in partnership with Greenwich JR United Way titled “Stress, Success and Teenage Setbacks” and the Legislative Breakfast on May 10th. In addition to McArdle’s providing the venue for tonight's event, the Welcome Reception was made possible by Horseneck Wine & Liquors and Sotheby's International Realty.
