Greenwich Woman Accused Of Depositing Fraudulent Check
Greenwich police said they arrested the woman on a felony warrant on Jan. 13.

GREENWICH, CT — A Greenwich woman accused of depositing a fraudulent check at a local bank in August 2022 was arrested last week on a warrant that charged her with third-degree larceny, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
Linda Ciuro, 60, was able to post a $30,000 court-set bond, her arrest report states. She's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 27.
Police said that on Oct. 21, 2022, officers responded to The First Bank of Greenwich on the Post Road in Cos Cob on a report from a bank manager that Ciuro, a bank customer, was en route.

On Aug. 8, 2022, Ciuro deposited a check into her account in the amount of $4,990 made payable to her from Valley Bank in Ronan, Mont., with the payee listed as The Pheasant Inc., police said.
The next day, Ciuro withdrew $4,890 from her account, and on Aug. 11, 2022, the check was returned to The First Bank of Greenwich, causing Ciuro's account to be overdrawn in the amount of $4,963, police said.

Detectives determined the check was fraudulent and that the payee did not have an account with the bank in Montana, police said.
A felony arrest warrant for Ciuro was signed for by a judge on Dec. 23, 2022, Ciuro's arrest report said.
