Greenwich Woman Hit By Car Dies From Injuries; ID Released: Police

Police announced that the woman who was hit by a car while walking her dog in Glenville on March 9 has died from her injuries.

GREENWICH, CT — The woman who was hit by a car while walking her dog in Glenville last Thursday afternoon has died from her injuries, the Greenwich Police Department said in an update Monday.

Donna Joy Berry, 63, of Greenwich, died on March 12, Capt. Mark Zuccerella of the GPD said.

Berry was walking her dog off the roadway in a grassy area near the intersection of Weaver Street and Hawthorne Street North on March 9 around 3 p.m., when a 2016 Lexus ES350 traveling north on Weaver crossed the double yellow line, mounted the curb and hit her, police said.

Police, Greenwich Emergency Medical Services and the Greenwich Fire Department responded to the scene. Berry was taken to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The dog did not sustain any injuries, and family members took custody of the animal, police said.

Police said at the time there is no indication the speed of the car caused the collision.

The collision remains under investigation by the GPD's crash reconstruction team, Zuccerella noted.
