Greenwich's Island Beach Concession Stand Opens For A 5th Straight Year Under Abilis

GREENWICH, CT — The Island Beach Concession Stand will reopen for the summer season on Saturday, June 14, with Abilis once again managing operations in partnership with the Town of Greenwich.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Abilis, a nonprofit organization serving more than 800 individuals with special needs and their families, has overseen the concession stand. The seasonal stand will operate daily through Aug. 31 and on weekends through Sept. 14, aligned with the Island Beach Ferry schedule.

"We are thrilled to be back managing the Island Beach Concession Stand for our fifth summer," said Amy Montimurro, CEO and president of Abilis, in an announcement. "The last several years have been a fantastic opportunity for our community members to work side-by-side [with] area teens in an inclusive employment environment serving the community. They love riding the ferry and love serving the customers. It’s a wonderful way to spend the summer and we are so happy the Town and the community have put their faith and business with Abilis to run the stand."

The stand offers a variety of food and beverages including hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, chicken strips, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Ice cream, baked goods, candy, and cold drinks are also available, along with beach accessories such as BBQ charcoal, toys, sand buckets, and more.

The concession stand closes 30 minutes before the final ferry departs for Greenwich Harbor each day.
