Greenwich's July 4th Fireworks To Proceed: Camillo
First Selectman Fred Camillo issued an update on the town's Fourth of July fireworks, which are scheduled for Saturday, July 1.
GREENWICH, CT —Greenwich's Fourth of July fireworks shows, which are scheduled for dusk on Saturday, July 1, at both Greenwich Point and Binney Park, will proceed despite poor air quality and visibility caused by ongoing Canadian wildfires, according to an update from First Selectman Fred Camillo.
"We are aware that the Connecticut Department of Public Health has said there will be unhealthy levels of air quality, today, Friday June 30, and we are urging residents to take care of themselves and be cautious," Camillo said. "However, we do not anticipate as of now that this will have an impact on the Saturday, July 1, fireworks shows."
Stamford's fireworks were scheduled for Friday night, but they were postponed to July 7 because of the poor air quality and visibility conditions.

The forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny with a slight chance of rain in the evening. Camillo said smoky conditions are expected to dissipate.
Members of the public who are in sensitive groups may still experience health effects, added Camillo. He urged people to use caution if they plan to attend the fireworks displays.

The town will continue to monitor the weather and air quality for Saturday, and will make an announcement if the shows are unable to go on as scheduled.
If the fireworks are ultimately postponed like they were in 2022, a makeup date is scheduled for Sept. 2 or Sept. 3.
A phone number has been set up at 203-861-6100 for information about the fireworks. Camillo also said any updates will be disseminated through his Community Connections email newsletter.
