Greenwich's Seasonal Leaf Blower Restrictions Are Back: Here's What To Know
Gasoline-powered leaf blowers are prohibited in residential zones from 6 p.m. the Friday before Memorial Day through Sept. 30.
GREENWICH, CT — Seasonal restrictions on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers in residential zones in Greenwich were set to take effect Friday, May 22, at 6 p.m.
Under the town ordinance, gasoline-powered leaf blowers are prohibited in residential zones from 6 p.m. the Friday before Memorial Day through Sept. 30. For residential properties of 2 acres or more, the seasonal prohibition ends the day after Labor Day.
The ordinance also restricts the hours during which any leaf blower, whether gas- or electric-powered, may be used.

Leaf blowers are prohibited from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Commercial use of gasoline-powered leaf blowers in residential zones is prohibited on Sundays.

The ordinance further states that commercial and residential parcels of one-quarter acre or less may only be serviced by one leaf blower at a time. Electric leaf blowers remain permitted year-round.
Violations of the ordinance may result in fines of $100 for a first offense and $250 for a second and each subsequent offense.
Residents are encouraged to report violations through the Greenwich Police Department’s non-emergency line at 203-622-8006.
Residents and contractors are encouraged to review the ordinance on the town website and plan landscaping activities accordingly.
