Connecticut Weather: Severe Thunderstorms, Flash Flood Concerns Monday

A large portion of the state is under a Flash Flood Watch. Here's the latest on when the weather is expected to be at its worst.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for the state of Connecticut Monday as there is a chance for severe weather, including strong thunderstorms and heavy downpours this afternoon. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford and Tolland counties too.

The entire state could see strong to severe thunderstorms from late this afternoon into this evening. The National Weather Service says the main threat is expected to be strong winds, and areas under a Flash Flood Watch may see a quick burst of an inch or two of rain. Flash flooding is a concern, the weather service states. The weather service says we could see lightning and hail, and there is a very low risk for an isolated tornado in Connecticut. The main time of concern is between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m., the weather service said. There is less of a concern of severe weather in Middlesex and New London counties, which does not have a Flash Flood Watch issued.
