Historic Merger: The Stanwich School And Greenwich Country Day
The combined schools in Greenwich will serve students from nursery through 12th grade.

GREENWICH, CT — Two prestigious Greenwich private schools have announced they will merge over the next 20 months to create a single nursery through 12th grade institution.
Greenwich Country Day School and The Stanwich School will "consolidate students, faculty, operations and facilities" under one banner by 2019, according to a post on The Stanwich School Facebook page. The new nursery through eighth grade campus will be at the current GCDS facility on Old Church Road in Greenwich, while the new school will be at the current campus of The Stanwich School on Stanwich Road.
The Stanwich School currently is a pre-K through 12th grade institution, and GCDS is pre-K through ninth grade.

"This combination will create one of the leading college preparatory schools in the country, including a state-of-the-art high school facility on our current campus," the post states. "Importantly, it ensures the steady continuation of the many tenets of our mission that are shared by GCDS."
Greenwich Country Day also issued a statement about the merger on its Facebook page.

"Extending our unique, values-based learning experience from nursery through twelfth grade—emphasizing our positive school culture, unique educational philosophy, and outstanding academic program—will advance the school’s mission 'to discover and develop what is finest' in our students, preparing them for success in college and lives of character and purpose," the post states.
