Home Health Aide Is Charged with Stealing Thousands from Disabled Greenwich Resident

Greenwich Police say the suspect also threatened to harm the victim for contacting police.

A home health care worker who was hired to care for a disabled Greenwich resident is arrest is facing dozens of charges in connection with the theft of checks, credit cards and jewelry from the woman.

The suspect is accused of using “the stolen checks and credit cards to make numerous purchases of hair care products and clothing for her personal use,” according to Greenwich Police. The suspect, who was employed by Synergy Home Care, also is accused of using “the victim’s biographical information to steal her identity and fraudulently obtain credit cards in the victim’s name,” according to police.

The thefts occurred in November.

Police also said that after the victim reported the thefts to police, the suspect “made threats via an electronic medium to harm the victim for reporting the incident to the police.”

The health care worker agreed to meet with investigators on Friday afternoon and when she arrived at Greenwich Police headquarters the officers served her with the arrest warrant.

Ketty Placide, 22, of Edlie Avenue in Norwalk, was charged with 26 counts each of illegal use of a credit card and illegally receiving goods and services; 30 counts each of criminal impersonation and first-degree identity theft; four counts of first-degree forgery; three counts of credit card theft and one count each of second-degree larceny and threatening.

Second-degree larceny involves the theft of more than $5,000, according to Connecticut General Statutes.

Bond was set at $25,000. Placide is scheduled to appear Feb. 27 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
