ICC Greenwich & Carnegie Prep Team Up For Students
ICC's FIRST LEGO League team, which is sponsored by Carnegie Prep, participated in the FIRST LEGO League state competition over the weekend.

From ICC: India Cultural Center of Greenwich (“ICC”), a non-profit organization with a mission to promote Indian culture and arts in the Lower Fairfield and Westchester areas, and Carnegie Prep, the premier test preparation and private tutoring company in Fairfield and Westchester counties, have announced a strategic partnership in order to promote high-quality educational programming to local students.
The overarching goal of this partnership is to develop the character traits and learning habits needed for ICC students to achieve success both now and in the future. Thus far, ICC and Carnegie Prep have already made considerable strides in achieving this mutual goal. In addition to serving as a Lotus Sponsor at ICC’s Annual Gala Benefit, Carnegie Prep had one of its tutors teach STEM to sixth and seventh grade students at ICC’s STEM Camp this summer. Further, Carnegie Prep is the sole financial sponsor of ICC’s FIRST LEGO League team.
Guided by adult coaches, FIRST LEGO League teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. FIRST LEGO League, with 32,000 teams from 88 countries, develops critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills. ICC, during its weekly children’s enrichment classes, has FIRST LEGO League as a class offering among other STEM-related courses.

Impressively, despite a late start and being the youngest team, ICC’s FIRST LEGO League team placed in the top half of teams at the 2017 Greenwich competition, one of the tougher places to compete in the state. The 2018 team, which is coached by a National Honor Society student from Fairfield High School, is comprised of students in fourth and fifth grades from Rye Country Day School, Hackley, Greenwich Country Day School and Fieldston.
"Our partnership with ICC's FIRST LEGO League team is a perfect fit for Carnegie Prep as it supports our founding principles – recognizing each student as an individual, building confidence and helping students achieve," said Lynn Carnegie, Founder and CEO of Carnegie Prep. "ICC's team bolsters these principles by promoting imaginative thinking, real-world concept application, teamwork and success."

“With such a strong dedication to its students, and the belief that all students can achieve success, we knew Carnegie Prep would be the perfect partner for ICC,” said Margie French, Executive Director of ICC. With aligned goals and core values when it comes to education, particularly as it relates to enhancing problem-solving skills, we’re confident that Carnegie Prep’s positive impact will be felt on ICC’s FIRST LEGO League team and across the entire organization.”
