Ice and Rain in the Forecast for Connecticut: UPDATE
The National Weather Service has already issued a Winter Weather Advisory for a portion of Connecticut for Tuesday into Wednesday.

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day a holiday today, and hopefully most of you are off from work, Tuesday is the beginning of the work week and return to school for students, and right on time some ice and rain is in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
Of course it all depends on where you live in Connecticut concerning how much, if any, ice you’ll receive. Residents on the immediate coast where temps will be warmer faster are likely to see largely plain rain but for residents in Hartford and Tolland counties a Winter Weather Advisory has already been issued from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday for snow and icing potential.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, “Bright skies with temperatures around 40° today! Plan on some rain and a touch of ice tomorrow for Tuesday. It looks like 40s will be in the forecast for the last half of the week. Some rain possible on Saturday!”

Tuesday’s Icing Concern
The National Weather Service says a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain may accumulate up to 1 inch in Hartford and Tolland counties, which could lead to hazardous driving at times. The wintry precipitation is expected to arrive late afternoon Tuesday through Wednesday morning. Tuesday’s commute home from work could be very slippery.

For those of you in southern Connecticut expect largely rain after 2 p.m. Tuesday with temps near 40 degrees. The rain sticks around and may continue into Wednesday morning. Up to a half inch of a cold, raw rain is predicted to fall. Some brief periods of icing may occur before the change to plain rain in inland sections of southern Connecticut early Tuesday, the weather service states.
Rest of the Work Week Weather Forecast:
Wednesday: The good news, warmer and a high near 45, but showers could fall until 3 p.m. or so.
Thursday: Partly sunny and a high near 45.
Friday: Mostly sunny and a high near 45 degrees.
