Janie And Jack Store In Greenwich To Close
The closure is part of parent company Gymboree's recent bankruptcy filing.

GREENWICH, CT — The Janie and Jack children's clothing store on Greenwich Avenue is slated to close in the near future, part of parent company Gymboree's recent bankruptcy filing, the company announced.
The Greenwich Janie and Jack store is the only one in Connecticut to close, but four of the company's Crazy 8 Stores in the state and four Gymboree locations in Connecticut are among the 350 shops Gymboree plans to shutter, beginning on July 18.
Those eight locations are: Crazy 8's in Meriden, Waterbury, Waterford and Westbrook, and Gymboree's in Manchester, Meriden, Milford and Waterford.

The last couple of years have been tough on bricks-and-mortar retailers in Connecticut and throughout the country, with Gymboree being the latest chain to announce store closings.
"The Gymboree Corporation is taking steps to strengthen the Company’s financial structure and position the business for long-term growth and success," wrote company officials in a statement. "On June 11, 2017, Gymboree entered into an agreement with a majority of its Term Loan Lenders on the terms of a comprehensive financial restructuring and recapitalization of the Company. To facilitate this, the Company elected to file voluntary Chapter 11 petitions with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

"Gymboree has three great brands, strong operations and dedicated employees, and throughout this process, the Company will continue to:
- Deliver superior service to its customers;
- Offer great merchandise;
- Provide associate wages and other benefits in the normal course; and
- Pay vendors in the ordinary course for all goods and services delivered on or after June 11, 2017."
