JFS Of Greenwich To Hold Spring Celebration
Funds raised for the event will support all JFS programs.

GREENWICH, CT — Jewish Family Services of Greenwich will be holding its annual spring celebration on Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m., at the Greenwich Reform Synagogue, 92 Orchard St., Cos Cob.
For the first time, JFS of Greenwich will recognize Gen Z Future Leaders with awards to local students Alex Greenberger, Caitlin Tice, and Ryan Miele in appreciation for their support of refugee children and their families.

Greenberger, a 7th grader at Rye Country Day School is an ESL Buddy to two Congolese refugee children, and has been working with them on reading aloud, interactive games, and socialization.
Miele, a Brown University student, is the inventor of Turbobo, a therapeutic stuffed dog designed to reduce anxiety in children. The JFS Bennett Behavioral Health Center is currently using these stuffed animals to help our youngest clients.

Tice, an 11th grader at Greenwich High School, has been providing one-on-one math tutoring to three Afghan middle school students for the last year.
JFS of Greenwich is also honoring community leaders Robin and Joe Kanarek for their long-standing commitment to Greenwich through both service and philanthropy. Robin Kanarek has volunteered with the JFS of Greenwich Bikur Cholim program since 2019. She also works with Rabbi MJ Newman and the JFS Jewish Health and Healing program in partnership with the Spiritual Care Department of Greenwich Hospital. Additionally, her family foundation, the Carl and Dorothy Bennett Foundation, just dedicated the JFS of Greenwich Behavioral Health Center, now called the Bennett Center for Behavioral Health.
The JFS of Greenwich Spring Celebration will feature special hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet pizza truck, a dessert and coffee bar, and refreshments. Funds raised for this event will support all JFS programs, including Resettlement and Immigration Services, Supermarketing for Seniors, Compassionate Companions, Family Support Services, Jewish Health & Healing, and Behavioral Health.
