Knife-Wielding Man Apprehended in Riverside
Greenwich Police say the man was spotted walking on East Putnam Avenue Saturday afternoon, carrying a large knife.

A 28-year-old man with a criminal record dating back 10 years was arrested on a weapons charge after he was seen “acting erratically” and “carrying a large knife” on East Putnam Avenue in the Riverside section of town.
Police received a call about a suspicious man shortly before 2 p.m. Oct. 17.
Police wrote in their report that they found Parker M. Ross, 28, of 35 W. View Pl., Riverside, ”with a hood pulled tightly over his head and face. He was preparing to enter the Mobil gas station (at the corner of Sheephill Road) grabbing a large knife that was attached to his waist and it appeared he was about to draw the weapon.”

Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray would only describe the knife as “longer than the legal limit of four inches.” The knife was carried in a sheath, Gray said.
Ross was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace. His bond was set at $5,000.

According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, Ross has a criminal record dating back to 2005. He has been convicted and served jail time and probation for assault, violation of probation and intimidation.
Ross was assigned an Oct. 26 date to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford.
