Legendary CT News Anchor Retiring This Week
After nearly four and a half decades of bringing us the news on a nightly basis, this legendary broadcast is retiring this week.

Legendary NBC Connecticut News Anchor Gerry Brooks, 66, is retiring at the end of Wednesday's newscast after a 44-year career. In 2017, Brooks announced a reduce role at the tv station but he's still been anchoring the 6 p.m. telecast.
When Brooks announced in 2017 that he was stepping away from the 11 p.m. newscast, he said, "After staring at myself in the mirror for an inordinate amount of time, I have come to the conclusion that I have just enough hair left to be a television news anchor on a reduced schedule....
Brooks said in 2017 that he was considering retirement then when his contract ended, but when his bosses asked him to remain, they "offered a generous deal for me to continue to anchor at 6, and assist in the transition to the next generation. I can't thank them enough."

He also said back in 2017 that "I've been covering Connecticut for 43+ years now. Years ago, I promised myself that I wouldn't "hang on," that I would go out throwing fastballs. This will let me do that at a television station I love, and with colleagues I genuinely enjoy. I am a very lucky man."
