Letter To The Editor: Voter Registration Day In Greenwich

Dear Editor:

Tuesday, September 22 is National Voter Registration Day, a non-partisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy. Since 2012, nearly 3 million voters have registered to vote on this annual holiday.

In celebration of the day, the League of Women Voters Greenwich (LWVGreenwich) is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club, the YMCA, the YWCA, and Neighbor to Neighbor to encourage their members, clients and all citizens to:

Confirm voter registration status. Anyone who has recently moved or married, or hasn't voted in the last several elections may need to re-register and confirm his/her polling location.

Register to vote. U.S. citizens who are 18 years of age by November 3, 2020, are eligible to vote in this year’s election. College students who are home this semester should take special notice.

Request an Absentee Ballot. Any voter who can't vote in person on November 3 can submit a request for an absentee ballot today online. The application is also available in Spanish. The Town Clerk will mail Absentee Ballots to those who apply on October 2. Voters may place completed ballots in boxes at the Police Station and Town Hall. Voters may also deliver completed ballots by-mail or by-hand by November 3. Allow plenty of time for all steps in this process.
