Lightning Strikes House In Greenwich: FD
Fire officials said the home's roof was damaged as a result of the incident.
GREENWICH, CT — The roof of an upper North Street area home was damaged Wednesday night after being struck by lightning, fire officials said. Firefighters were called to the home at approximately 7 p.m.
Greenwich Fire Marshal Christopher Pratico told Patch lightning struck the house's chimney and blew apart the stone, causing minor damage to the roof. Some rain water also got into the attic as a result of a hole in the roof.
Two people were home at the time of the incident but no one was injured, and they were able to re-enter the home that night, Pratico said. No fire was started as a result of the lightning strike.
