Linda Caldwell Couig, 87, a resident of Greenwich, CT for over 80 years passed away on August 27, 2021 at Greenwich Hospital. She passed peacefully in her sleep after a short battle following complications addressing a benign acoustic neuroma.
Born in Greenwich, CT in 1934 to William Tipton Caldwell and Viola Petrelli Caldwell, Linda graduated from the old Greenwich High School in 1952 and then attended Hood College in Frederick, Maryland where she graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Art in 1956.

After moving back to the area following graduation, she had several jobs in New York City working at the German American Consulate, the Brazil Coffee Commission and as an editor at Family Circle Magazine. It was during a commute home from New York when she met her future husband, Donald Brassil Couig, as they both sought refuge from a rainstorm in the same phone booth at the Port Chester Railroad Station. It was a fairy tale beginning to a wonderful marriage and so began her transition into her next phase as a loving, doting mother.
Linda was thoroughly involved in her children's schools contributing to the Parent Teacher Associations at Parkway Elementary School, Glenville Elementary School and Western Junior High School where she served as President of the PTA in 1986 - 87. Along the way she was a supportive hockey and rugby mom for her son, William, throughout high school and college and a variety of causes for her daughter, Lesley. Once she became a grandmother, that caring eye transitioned to her grandkids as she attended countless concerts, performances and recitals to make her final years as fulfilling as the rest of her life.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, Linda is survived by her daughter, Lesley Couig Walters (John Walters) of Trumbull, CT and William Couig of New York, NY, as well as her three grandchildren, Wyatt Pendleton, Stephen Walters and Keira Couig. She is additionally survived by a sister, Diane Caldwell, and brother, William T. Caldwell, Jr. of Greenwich, CT and predeceased by her sister, Joan Caldwell, of Greenwich, CT.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 31st from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home, 267 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 1, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's Church, 84 Sherwood Avenue, Greenwich, CT with Father Tim Wiggins as the officiant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North Street, Greenwich, CT.
