Connecticut Weather: Expect Lots Of Cold, Snow In February

Accuweather has released its long-term weather outlook for February and you'll want to keep your shovel and gloves nearby.

If you don't like cold temps and lots of snow then please don't read any further. It appears February is going to bring a return to very cold temps and a chance for several snowstorms, according to Accuweather.com's long-range February outlook.

Accuweather is predicting cold air moving in from Feb. 4 through Feb. 15 and there may be "several chances of snow" for the Northeast during that time period. The first snow chance of February will come on Friday, Feb. 2. There is also a chance for snow on Super Bowl Sunday too.

"As waves of arctic air return to the northern part of the United States and warmth holds in the South, a busy winter storm track will set up during the first half of February," Accuweather.com says.

After Friday's snow chance, arctic air is expected to move into New England after this weekend and may "set up the active storm track." Accuweather.com calls the Feb. 4 through 15 period a "weather battleground" because warm temps will be felt in the south and it will be cold in the northeast.

"The result may be a smorgasbord of precipitation ranging from rain and thunderstorms in the Deep South, snow across the northern tier and a wintry mix, including ice, in between. There is the potential for the storms to be so close together that some communities may barely get a break of dry weather for a full calendar day," Accuweather.com says.
