LWV Greenwich To Host 3 Debates Ahead Of Municipal Election
The League of Women Voters of Greenwich will host three debates between candidates vying for office in the Nov. 7 municipal election.

GREENWICH, CT — The League of Women Voters of Greenwich has announced it will host three debates ahead of the municipal election on Nov. 7.
Candidates from both parties for the Board of Selectmen, Board of Education, and Board of Estimate and Taxation have agreed to participate.
All debates will take place in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.

Attendance in the Town Hall Meeting Room will be limited. Remote viewing will be provided.

A bipartisan screening committee of at least two League Board members will review questions submitted by attendees to prioritize them and to ensure that all candidates can answer.
The debate schedule is as follows:
First Selectman and Selectman, Wednesday, Oct. 11, beginning at 6 p.m.
- 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Selectman candidates: Lauren Rabin (R) & Janet Stone McGuigan (D), both incumbents.
- 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., First Selectman candidates: Fred Camillo (R), incumbent, & Laura Erickson (D).
Moderator Kay Maxwell, a past president of the National and the Connecticut League of Women Voters, will be assisted by Greenwich High School student and LWV Greenwich Board member Hanna Klingbeil.
Audience questions must be submitted with registration by Oct. 6
Board of Education, Thursday, Oct. 12, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Republican candidates: Karen Kowalski, incumbent; Wendy Vizzo Walsh.
- Democratic candidates: Karen Hirsh, incumbent; Sophia Koven.
Moderator Laura Smits, a past president of the Connecticut League of Women Voters, will be assisted by Klingbeil.
Audience questions must be submitted with registration by Oct. 7.
Board of Estimate and Taxation, Wednesday, Oct. 18, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Democratic Party Candidate Slate: Incumbents Leslie Moriarty, Stephen Selbst, David Weisbrod. Candidates: Elliot Alchek, Matt DesChamps, Scott Kalb (not participating in the debate).
- Republican Party Candidate Slate: Incumbents Nisha Arora, Karen Fassuliotis, Harry Fisher, Leslie Tarkington. Candidates: David Alfano, Lucia Jansen.
Maxwell will moderate with the help of Klingbeil.
Audience Questions must be submitted with registration by Oct. 13.
