Man Accused Of Crashing Into Pole During Pursuit: Greenwich PD

Police said a man is accused of engaging police in a pursuit after attempting to steal tires and rims from a Greenwich dealership last year.

GREENWICH, CT - Police said a New York man accused of trying to steal tires and rims from a Greenwich car dealership and engaging police in a pursuit last year has been arrested. Police said Kyle Taylor, 29, of Yonkers, N.Y., tuned himself into police on an active warrant for his arrest Friday.

According to a press release, Greenwich Police were alerted to a theft of tires and tire rims from cars in local dealerships on Sept. 20, 2018, around 3 a.m.

Police said at least two suspects fled the scene when officers arrived. One suspect engaged police in a short pursuit, which ended with his 2014 Audi A5 crashing into a telephone pole, police said. The driver then fled the scene on foot and was able to elude officers, police said.

According to police, a "lengthy investigation" developed probable cause to believe the suspect driving the car was Taylor, and an arrest warrant was obtained.

Police said the accused was charged with engaging police in pursuit, evading responsibility, criminal mischief, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.
