Man Accused Of Starting A Fire Outside Greenwich Avenue Starbucks

Police said Samuel Graff, 26, of Greenwich, also threw a hot beverage at responding officers and resisted arrest.

GREENWICH, CT — A 26-year-old Greenwich man is accused of starting a fire outside the Greenwich Avenue Starbucks and throwing a hot beverage at responding officers, according to police.

Samuel Graff was arrested on Dec. 10 and charged with reckless burning; interfering/resisting officers; assault of a public safety/EMT/transit/health worker; second-degree breach of peace; and disorderly conduct.

According to an arrest report, Greenwich police officers responded to the Greenwich Avenue Starbucks shortly before 9 a.m. on Dec. 10 on a report of a man creating a disturbance outside of the store.

Officers determined that Graff "recklessly started a small fire along the edge of the building," the arrest report said. Police said Graff resisted arrest and went into the road and blocked traffic.

Police said Graff threw a hot beverage "at an officer's head and also threw several punches with a closed fist" before he was "safely secured into police custody."

Graff was unable to post a $25,000 bond. He was given a court date of Dec. 24 in Stamford, according to his arrest report.
