Man Arrested For Shooting At Oxygen Tank During Greenwich Altercation: Police
The suspect, A Norwalk resident who was in custody in Westchester on separate charges, was arrested on a warrant on Monday, July 24.

GREENWICH, CT — A 36-year-old Norwalk man, who allegedly shot at an oxygen tank to blow it up during an altercation in Greenwich, was extradited back to Connecticut from Westchester on Monday and arrested on a warrant in connection with the August 2016 incident, announced Greenwich police.
Christopher Matthew Ilchert, of Rowayton Avenue, was charged with the following:
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Carrying a gun without a permit
- Unlawful discharge of a firearm
- Third-degree assault
- First-degree reckless endangerment (3 counts)
- Second-degree breach of peace
- Reckless driving
The incident stemmed from an alleged ongoing argument between Ilchert and a Greenwich man, resulting in an altercation between the two men at a residence on Stonehedge Drive South where Ilchert allegedly placed the tank on the porch and shot at it, according to Greenwich police.

The tank didn't explode, but Ilchert fled the scene before police arrived, hitting the other man with his car, injuring him slightly.
Ilchert was extradited from the Westchester Correctional Facility where he was being held on separate charges.

He is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 7.
